COMPLAST & RUBEXPO 2024, transforming Sri Lanka’s future with sustainable recycling solutions
The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) played host to COMPLAST & RUBEXPO 2024, from the 30th of August 2024 to the 1st of September 2024.
The event is organized by SMART Expos & Fairs India Pvt Ltd and co-organized by the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL), with support from the Industrial Development Board (IDB). The key sponsors included Shibaura Machine India, SDD Polymers, Lanka IOC, FMJ Plastics, Acteil Innovative, and NCS Holdings.
The expos took place over a three-day period, drawing a sensational gathering of over 300 industry experts and representatives from over 200 from Plastics, Rubber and Packaging sectors. Visitors to the twin expos caught a glimpse into the latest products, technologies, and innovations in the plastics and rubber industries, and a multitude of live demonstrations of cutting-edge solutions.
The events focus on recycling aligned greatly with the country’s long-term goals of circular economies and sustainable development. A circular economy holds a great many advantages for Sri Lanka, including curbing the environmental impact, refining waste management, conserving resources, generating employment and fostering economic growth through eco-friendly industries. This will help elevate Sri Lanka’s value on a global scale.
COMPLAST & RUBEXPO 2024 offered attendees unparalleled opportunities for growth and diversification, this included key advice and knowledge for setting up their own plastics and rubber factories from top manufacturers and suppliers. The exhibitions also emphasised the paramount importance of sustainability, particularly in the context of recycling in Sri Lanka. Attendees were able to learn about the innovative recycling technology to help reduce waste and the significant economic benefits that can be gained.

Retailers also reaped great benefits, showcasing locally crafted products and highlighting the exceptional quality and innovation to a global audience.
