Fadna Tea join hands with Wayamba University of Sri Lanka
Fadna Tea, a leading manufacturer in the Functional Tea category, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. The main objective of signing this MOU was to provide mutual economic and social benefits to the local communities through mutual participation between the private sector and the public sector. The MOU provides an opportunity for the university to commercialize their research inventions and market them partnering with Fadna.
Dr.P.G.C.S.Bowatte, the acting vice chancellor of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka and Mr.Chamendra Somatunga, Managing Director of Fadna were present at the event together with the university staff and representatives of Fadna.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Chamendra Somatunga stated that, “the constant efforts made by Fadna to develop the market in partnership with local universities are a timely and an effective step. Plans are underway to implement a number of such projects in collaboration with various state universities in Sri Lanka, which will make a significant contribution to the economy. As a responsible corporate citizen, we believe in making a change in the lives of our communities while empowering them to face all challenges they encounter.”
Both parties wishes to encourage direct contact between their institutions and research centres, subject to the terms of this MoU. Initiatives will be carried out in the near future to develop collaborations in the areas of teaching and research, while implementing programs, exchanging research information in areas of mutual interest, engaging in joint research activities and sharing library and laboratory facilities offering greater avenues for both parties.
Fadna, the reputed functional tea manufacturing company introducing the nature’s goodness to the world, also conducts a number of CSR programs aimed at the local communities for their social development as well. All Fadna compounds have been certified by the Department of Ayurveda, Ministry of Indigenous medicine of Sri Lanka with the utmost assurance.
